For nearly two decades, ComfortDelGro has operated heavy and light rail networks across Singapore.
The Group operates passenger rail networks in Singapore through SBS Transit Rail and globally through ComfortDelGro Transit. Through joint ventures, ComfortDelGro is also expanding its footprint globally through contracts in France, Sweden and New Zealand.
ComfortDelGro’s two Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) lines – the North East Line (NEL) and Downtown Line (DTL) – combined with our Sengkang-Punggol Light Rail Transit (LRT) system service over 400 million passengers annually.
Global Rail Experience
In August 2021, ComfortDelGro was awarded a S$1.13 billion contract to operate rail services in Auckland, marking the Group’s first foray into the New Zealand land transport market. Auckland One Rail (AOR) is a 50:50 joint venture company between ComfortDelGro and UGL Rail Services, an Australian rail operations and maintenance company under the CIMIC Group.
The Auckland Metro is the largest in New Zealand and comprises four lines representing 94km of total rail network, 40 stations and 72 three-car electric multiple unit (EMU) trains and eight diesel multiple unit trains. This will grow to 42 stations and 97 EMU trains from the opening of Auckland’s new City Rail Link, which is planned for 2024.
In July 2023, ComfortDelGro was awarded the contract to operate the south sector of Paris’ Line 15 for an initial term of six years, with an opportunity for an extension to nine years. It will commence passenger service by the end of 2025.
In January 2024, ComfortDelGro, through its joint venture with the Go-Ahead Group, has been awarded the contract to operate and maintain the Stockholm Metro. This is ComfortDelGro’s first rail contract in Scandinavia and will be its largest rail passenger operation outside of Singapore.
